Have you ever stopped for a moment, looked back over your life and wondered how in the world you made it through some of the things you've experienced?
I certainly have!
Life has a way of throwing things at us we never saw coming. The loss of someone we love, broken relationships, health challenges, financial difficulties, or disappointments that leave us questioning everything we thought we knew. Sometimes, it's not one major event that overwhelms us it's the accumulation of so many little things that eventually leaves us emotionally, mentally and physically exhausted. But here's something I want you to think about if only for a couple of minutes. Have you been so focused on everything you've been through that you've forgotten to acknowledge what it took for you to get through it all?
I've learned that some of the strongest people you'll ever meet are carrying burdens you know absolutely nothing about. They smile, show up for their families, encourage others, and continue handling their responsibilities, even when they're struggling themselves. Just because someone appears strong doesn't mean they're not hurting. Being strong doesn't mean you don't cry, get tired, feel discouraged, or need someone to lean on. And let me tell you something else, you can be grateful for your life and still feel overwhelmed. You can have faith in God and still experience moments of uncertainty. You can love your family deeply and still need time to yourself.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with acknowledging that you need a moment to breathe, regroup, or ask for support. You're human and sometimes, we need a helping hand or loving embrace. I've experienced enough of life's unexpected turns to understand that we don't always get to choose what happens to us. But we can make decisions about how we care for ourselves and move forward. And sometimes, moving forward doesn't mean taking another big step. Sometimes, it means resting, healing, or simply giving yourself permission to begin again.
Before you go, let me ask you something. When was the last time you gave yourself credit for making it through something you once thought you couldn't handle? You may not be where you thought you would be, you may still be healing, learning, and trying to figure some things out. But don't allow what has happened yet to overshadow how far you've already come. You're still standing, and that means something. Not because you have everything figured out, but because your life still has value, your story still matters, and there's still an opportunity to write another chapter.
